Steps to follow while paraphrasing:

1. Read the text in-depth in order to understand it completely 
2. Underline the major content words and complex sentences which need breaking and transformation. 
3. Judge the main ideas and their supporting details, and organization and over all nature of the  content. 
4. Change the word order and start writing the sentences differently through the transformation of major words like nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Synonyms can also be used. 
5. Break unusually long sentences into shorter ones and combine especially the shorter ones into relatively the longer sentences. 
6. Keep the technical words unchanged, and if non-technical ones are not change, better keep them within quotation marks. 
7. Compare the paraphrase with the original text in order to check whether the sense has been kept non-distorted.
